Law Libraries: My Introduction

My degree came in the mail today, since I just moved across the country for work and could not walk at graduation.  What a weird feeling, having a new degree for my wall!

I know previously this blog has focused on technology, as per one of my last MLIS classes, but I have shifted it to encompass my overall thoughts and experiences in the library field.  I recently started work as a *drumroll please* law librarian!  I have, of course, always had an interest in special libraries, so I am super excited to be stepping into the door of special-librarianship.

Up until now, I never thought too much about how many sub-subsections to each subsection there was in special libraries.  Law libraries can be split into groups such as private law firm libraries, academic (law school) libraries, government buildings (including courthouses), plus other miscellaneous categories.

Luckily the AALL exists and has a wonderful network of librarians who are super helpful and supportive.  Maybe next year I will be able to attend the conference – I wish I had thought about it far enough in advance this year!

Happy librarian-ing to all my fellow liblings!
